Lawson Ticket App: How to Set It Up From Overseas

Lawson Ticket (ローチケ, also written L-tike) is one of the largest ticketing platforms in Japan. Concerts, stage plays, the WBC and collaboration cafés such as the Chiikawa restaurant all sell through it.

Overseas fans usually hit the same wall in the same order. The lottery result arrives and the e-ticket app goes on the phone. Then the app refuses to verify them. Below we untangle the three product names first, then walk through the app itself.

Three names, one chain

1. ローチケ (Lawson Ticket): the Japanese short form of Lawson Ticket. It is simply the platform's nickname.
2. Lawson Web member (ローソンWEB会員): the account you use to sign in on l-tike.com and apply for or buy tickets. You create it on the website, not in the e-ticket app.
   • If a sale or lottery links straight to a Lawson Ticket URL, you need this account.
   • You can only register from the web, through 新規登録 (new registration). The app cannot create the account for you.
3. ローチケ電子チケット app: a pure digital ticket wallet. This app only receives tickets, and it does not use your Lawson Web login. It verifies the phone number on the device and checks that number for eligible tickets. More on that below.

So the chain reads: your Lawson Web membership is the account and Lawson Ticket is the sales platform. ローチケ電子チケット is the ticket wallet that holds what you bought.

Which events actually need the e-ticket app

The wallet only holds one kind of ticket: events whose lottery page says tickets are delivered through ローチケ電子チケット.

Two tickets bought on the same platform can be delivered very differently. Some events still issue paper tickets you collect at a Lawson store. Some use another digital ticket provider, such as Anypass. Some are locked to Lawson's own ローチケ電子チケット. When the event page names ローチケ電子チケット, you need this app and there is no paper alternative.

Here is what the app does once an event uses it:

1. The first time you open it, it runs a carrier verification check.
2. You need a Japanese cellular plan with the voice/SMS capability the app requires. It can be a physical SIM or an eSIM. Data-only travel SIMs do not pass.
3. Data-only Rakuten SIM cards without name registration are already blocked. Older blog posts that recommend them are out of date.
4. The number you verify with is the critical part. On launch, the app asks the server whether that number has any undelivered tickets. If it does, and the issuance window has opened, the ticket is released to your phone.
5. Once a ticket lands on your phone you cannot move it to another device. Delete the app and the ticket disappears with it.

That is the easy half. The hard half is the number, and it usually has to be entered back when you apply for the lottery, long before the app matters. That part sits inside our service, so message us and we will set it up.

Installing the app

A reminder before you start: not every Lawson sale needs this app, and installing it can wait until you actually win. What cannot wait is checking whether the event uses it and getting the matching SIM ready. Ask us if you are unsure.

1. OS version. iPhone needs iOS 16 or later, Android needs Android 10 or later.
   An older phone may not run the app at all, and a screenshot is never accepted in place of the ticket.
2. You need a Japanese store account.
   An Apple ID or Google account set to your home country will not find this app in the store at all.
   iPhone needs a Japanese Apple account, Android needs a Japanese Google account.
   Both can be created for free, and clients we work with get the walkthrough from us directly.

You won, you passed verification, but there is no ticket

Check these two things before you panic.

1. The official issuance schedule. The organizer simply hasn't released the tickets yet, and normally that happens about one month before the event. There's no benefit to receiving your digital ticket weeks in advance anyway. If the phone is lost or breaks in the meantime, you have a real problem on your hands.
2. The number the app verified. When you are in the verified state, the app shows a white screen with a list of notices. Open settings or the More menu at the top right and you can see which number the app is holding. It has to be the same number you registered when you entered the lottery. A typo, a friend's number, or an agency's number all mean the ticket cannot reach you.

Getting a Japanese number that passes

That number is not limited to Lawson:

• It also works for lotteries and phone verification on eplus, Ticket Pia and other platforms.
• It is useful on the trip itself, for calling a taxi, booking a hotel or reserving a restaurant in Japan, including the Chiikawa restaurant.
• Even if the lottery deadline is close, ask before you give up. There is often still time.

Keeping a Japanese line running does cost money. Budget for the mobile line alongside your airfare and other fixed trip costs. For a group entry such as an exhibition, several travelers can split the cost.

I won the lottery and passed verification, but the app shows no ticket. What now?

Check two things. First, the official ticket issuance schedule: digital tickets are usually released about one month before the event, so nothing will appear before that. Second, the number the app verified, which must match the number you registered when you entered the lottery. A typo or someone else's number means the ticket cannot reach you.

Can I screenshot the ticket or move it to another phone?

No. Once a ticket is issued to your phone it cannot be transferred to another device, and deleting the app deletes the ticket with it. A screenshot is not accepted at the venue.
